tly announced the full time hiring of Britney (Kostanski) Gioules as a Massachusetts Licensed Funeral Director. Britney graduated from Greenfield High School in 2003. She attended Mount Ida College in Newton, MA graduating with an associate's degree in Mortuary Science. She served her funeral directing apprenticeship at Kostanski Funeral Home from 2006 until 2013.
On April 23, 2013 Britney was sworn in as a Type 3 Massachusetts Licensed Funeral Director at the Division of Professional Licensure in Boston, MA after successfully completing and passing her national and state board examinations.
She is currently the junior varsity and assistant varsity field hockey coach for the Greenfield High School.
Britney is a lifelong resident of Greenfield. She is the daughter of William and Mary Kostanski and was married to George Gioules on October 13, 2012.
Kostanski Funeral Home of Greenfield and Turners Falls is now a third generation family business. In 1952 founders Henry A. and Irene R. Kostanski opened the Kostanski Funeral Home at 220 Federal Street, Greenfield. In 1953, together with Henry's brother Walter T. Kostanski, they established the funeral home at 1 Kostanski Square, Turners Falls. The business has been operated by Michael and William Kostanski and Karen Larabee. Michael retired in April 2013 after helping and serving families for over 25 years.
The caring and professionalism instilled by Henry and Irene for over 60 years still continues as the Kostanski tradition and serves all faiths throughout the area from both locations. The Kostanski Funeral Home is a member of the New England Funeral Trust and specializes in pre-arranged funerals.
