GREENFIELD — Jean A. (Pohs) Golden, 87, of Greenfield, formerly of Westport, Conn., died Saturday (10-29-11) at the Buckley HealthCare Center.
She was born in New York City, N.Y., on Nov. 17, 1923, the daughter of Max and Evelyn (Neudoffer) Pohs. She was a graduate of White Plains High School in White Plains, N.Y., and was a graduate of the State University of Ohio in Athens. Jean had been a resident of Westport, Conn., for many years prior to moving to Greenfield earlier this year.
Jean was very involved in the Westport Women's Club and the Westport Nature Center. Also, she was a volunteer for the Norwalk Hospital.
She was a homemaker and loved spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Also, she loved the theater and walking on the beach.
Survivors include two sons, Douglas Golden and his wife Mary Cullen of Ben Salem, Pa., and John "Jack" Golden and his wife Lisa Limont of Leyden; a sister, Anne Heldman of Cincinnati, Ohio; five grandchildren, Steven and Jeffrey Kirby, Melissa Fisher and Christopher and Zachary Golden; three great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews, a daughter-in-law, Paula Konon Golden and a son-in-law, Lynn Kirkby.
Jean was predeceased by a son, Lawrence Golden, in 2005 and by a daughter, Mary Ann Kirkby, in 2009.
Services will be private and burial will be at the convenience of the family.
There are no calling hours.
