MILLERS FALLS — Harold L. Hammond Jr., 68, of S. Prospect St., died Saturday (10/15/11) at the Baystate Medical Center in Springfield.
He was born on January 15, 1943, the son of Harold L. Sr., and Sophie (Marco) Hammond. He was a graduate of Mahar Regional High School and had been a resident of Millers Falls for many years.
Harold was a mechanic for the Boston and Maine Railroad for many years, retiring in 2005.
He had been a member of the National Guard and was also a member of the Turners Falls Rod and Gun Club. His wife, the former Joanne M. Chichanowicz, predeceased him on July 3, 1987.
Survivors include a son, Joshua A. Hammond of Millers Falls, a daughter, Sarah E. Hammond of Montague Center, a grandson, Dominic, and several nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held Thursday at 10 a.m. at the Kostanski Funeral Home, 1 Kostanski Square, Turners Falls. Burial will follow in Northfield Farms Cemetery.
There are no calling hours.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the charity of the donor's choice.
