JULIA ANN (ORGAN) WELENC
Greenfield-Julia Ann (Organ) Welenc, 83, of Greenfield, MA, has passed from this life and gone to be with her Lord and Savior on Thursday (11/25/10) at the Charlene Manor Extended Care Facility.
She was born January 31, 1927 (in Ayer, MA), the daughter of John L. and Julia M. ( Connors) Organ., both from Leominster, MA. Julia had made her home in Greenfield, MA since 1931 and graduated from Greenfield High School in 1945. She married Leon Michael Welenc on September 24, 1949 in Holy Trinity Church. They were married 53 years before Leon’s passing in 2002.
Julia enhanced several organizations as an administrative assistant throughout her career, including the B&M Railroad, Connecticut River Watershed Council and served over twenty-five years at the Baystate Franklin Medical Center, primarily as the Assistant to the Director of Nursing. Julia was also involved with the Lionettes for several years and volunteered at the Medical Center.
Julia was a devoted and very active parishioner of Holy Trinity Church most of her life.
Some of Julia's greatest joys were family, friends, and vacations at Hampton Beach and Maine.
Survivors include four children; Michael and his wife, Robin, of Fort Collins, CO and their two sons, Christopher and Matthew; David and his wife, Keyna, of Greenfield and their son, Sean; Douglas and his wife, Susan, of Greenfield and their two daughters, Brianna and Elizabeth, and their son, Douglas; Mary and her husband Edward Pastula of West Hartford, CT and son, Ryan. Also, Julia leaves her sister Elizabeth Sullivan of Taunton, MA and her brother Thomas Organ of North Little Rock, AR, as well as several nieces and nephews, and many beloved life-long friends.
Julia was predeceased by her sister Mary Colucci and her brother James Organ.
Services will be held Tuesday, (11/ 30) at 9:15 a.m. from the Kostanski Funeral Home, 220 Federal St., followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in Holy Trinity Church, 133 Main St., with Monsignor Ronald G. Yargeau, pastor, officiating. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery.
Calling hours will be Monday 6-8 p.m. at Kostanski Funeral Home, Greenfield, MA.
