Robert A. Fregeau
TURNERS FALLS -- Robert A. Fregeau, 76, of 36 Davis St. died Friday (10-12-07) at the Winchester Hospital in Winchester, Mass.
He was born in Greenfield on Aug. 18, 1931, the son of Alphonse and Isabelle (Couture) Fregeau. He attended local schools in Greenfield and graduated from Greenfield High School in 1949.
Bob was employed for the New England Telephone Co. for 40 years, retiring as a staff auditor in 1991.
He served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War and attained the rank of staff sergeant.
He was a member of St. James Episcopal Church in Greenfield.
He was a life member of the Montague Lodge of Elks.
Bob enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, gardening, camping, scuba diving and collecting stamps and coins.
Survivors include his wife of 54 years, the former Jean L. Bitzer; a son, Mark R. and his wife Patricia of Wilmington; two grandchildren, Michelle and Matthew Fregeau of Wilmington, and several nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held Saturday at 10:30 a.m. in St. James Episcopal Church. Burial will be at the convenience of the family.
